This regular, weekly class meets every Sunday from 11:30-12:45 at Yoga Heights in Takoma Park (right off of the Takoma Park metro stop); drop-ins are welcome and no prior experience is necessary. The class offers students the chance to experience the fundamental aspects of Kundalini Yoga which include a warming up of the body through basic stretches and light movement, followed by a kriya. A kriya is a set series of exercises done in a specific sequence, typically in a repetitive fashion, with a focus on breathing while building strength. Each class will end with a meditation designed to best realize the benefits of the kriya. The class has kundalini music played throughout.
Because Kundalini Yoga is very different than other types of yoga and does not heavily emphasize traditional postures, students of all levels-- including those who have never taken any type of yoga-- are encouraged to attend. Each exercise performed in Introduction to Kundalini Yoga will offer several modifications and as a result is appropriate for people of all levels and abilities.
This is a reoccuring class held every Sunday morning; drop ins for a single class are welcome. Sign up for classes here: https://yogaheightsdc.com/scheduleataglance/
